AC installation services we offer

HeatLand installs all types of residential cooling systems across Metro Vancouver. Every installation includes a proper load calculation, manufacturer-approved components, full permits and a written labour warranty.

Central AC Installation

Add central air to your existing furnace and ductwork. Includes the evaporator coil, refrigerant lines and outdoor condensing unit — all properly sized and permitted.

Ductless Mini-Split Installation

Efficient, flexible cooling for homes without ducts. Single-zone or multi-zone systems to cool specific rooms or the whole house.

Heat Pump Installation

One system for summer cooling and winter heating. Heat pumps are the most efficient option for BC homes and qualify for the best rebates.

Load Calculation & Sizing

We calculate the correct system capacity for your home before recommending any equipment — no oversizing, no undersizing.

Permits & Inspections

We manage the permit application, schedule the inspection and ensure all work meets BC Mechanical Code and local bylaws.

Rebate Assistance

We identify CleanBC, BC Hydro, FortisBC and federal rebates that apply to your installation and help with the application paperwork.

What to expect from your installation

Before we recommend any equipment, we assess your home: square footage, ceiling heights, insulation levels, window area and how your existing ductwork (if any) is configured. This lets us specify the correct system capacity — a common mistake by less careful contractors is oversizing, which causes short-cycling, excess humidity and premature equipment failure.

On installation day, we protect your floors, keep work areas tidy, test the system fully before leaving, and walk you through how to operate your new equipment. Every installation is permitted and inspected to BC code.

Brands we install

We install and service all major residential AC and heat pump brands including Carrier, Lennox, Trane, Goodman, Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Fujitsu, Bosch, Rheem, Bryant, York, American Standard, Amana and more. We give brand-agnostic advice — our recommendation is based on what fits your home and budget, not on which brand gives us the best margin.

Frequently asked questions about AC installation

What is the best time of year to install a new air conditioner in BC?

Spring is the ideal window — technicians have more availability before the summer rush, and you will have cooling ready before the first heat wave. That said, HeatLand installs air conditioners year-round, and a spring booking often means a faster turnaround.

What size air conditioner does my home need?

Sizing is calculated using a load calculation (Manual J or equivalent) that accounts for your home’s square footage, insulation, window area, ceiling height and local climate. An oversized unit will short-cycle and leave your home humid; an undersized unit will run constantly without reaching setpoint. We size every installation properly, in writing.

Do I need a permit to install an air conditioner in BC?

Central air conditioner and heat pump installations typically require a mechanical permit and sometimes an electrical permit in BC. HeatLand handles the permit process as part of your installation — all work is inspected and code-compliant.

Can I get a rebate on a new air conditioner or heat pump?

Yes — high-efficiency heat pumps (which both cool and heat) qualify for CleanBC Better Homes, BC Hydro, FortisBC and federal Greener Homes rebates that can offset a significant portion of the installation cost. Standard central air conditioners have fewer rebate options, but we will identify every available incentive at the time of your quote.

How long does an air conditioner installation take?

A ductless mini-split installation is typically completed in 4–8 hours in a single day. A central air conditioner installation (adding a coil to a furnace with existing ductwork) usually takes one full day. More complex retrofits may take two days.
