How Long Does It Take to Install a New Boiler?

Most residential boiler installations take one to two days. A straightforward like-for-like replacement is often completed in a single day, while converting to a different boiler type, relocating the unit, or upgrading pipework and venting can extend the job to two or three days.

What Determines the Timeline

A like-for-like swap — same fuel, similar location, compatible pipework — is the fastest scenario and frequently done in one working day. Switching from a conventional boiler to a high-efficiency condensing or combi model takes longer because it involves new venting, a condensate drain, and sometimes gas-line and electrical changes.

Relocating the boiler, replacing old or corroded pipework, or installing new zone controls all add time. A proper installation also includes a power flush of the system where needed, commissioning, and a safety check — steps that should never be rushed.

Will I Be Without Heat or Hot Water?

During a boiler replacement you will typically be without heat and hot water for the duration of the active install. HeatLand schedules the work to minimize disruption and, where possible, restores service by the end of the same day on single-day jobs.

Can a boiler be installed in one day?

Yes — a like-for-like boiler replacement in the same location with compatible pipework is commonly completed in a single day. More complex conversions take two or more days.

Do I need to be home during the installation?

Someone should be home at the start to confirm access and at the end for the handover and demonstration of the new controls. Our technicians keep you informed throughout.
