What a condensate leak is
High-efficiency condensing boilers produce water as a by-product of combustion. This condensate drains through a plastic pipe to a drain. A blockage, freeze, or improper routing can cause water to back up and pool around the boiler – often mistaken for a boiler water leak.
Common causes
Condensate pipe freeze in cold weather is the most common cause. A blocked trap, an improper drain connection, or a cracked condensate pipe can also cause pooling.
The fix
