Why does my new heat pump run almost constantly?

Long low-output run times are normal and desirable on variable-capacity equipment. It is holding a steady temperature instead of cycling on and off, which is quieter and more comfortable. Constant running at high speed with the house still not reaching setpoint is different and worth investigating, as is frequent short cycling on mild days, which usually points to oversizing. If in doubt, have the charge, airflow and control settings verified.
